An illustration I completed about a month back which I finally framed and hung up. I love the colour of the coat (Kenzo for anyone interested) and Kirsten's pose in that particular editorial in Lula. That issue, by the way, according to Zee, perfectly encapsulates my soul. A very interesting way to put it.

And would it have been worth it, after all,
After the cups, the marmalade, the tea,
Among the porcelain, among some talk of you and me,
Would it have been worth while,
To have bitten off the matter with a smile,
To have squeezed the universe into a ball
To roll it toward some overwhelming question,
To say: `I am Lazarus, come from the dead,
Come back to tell you all, I shall tell you all' --
If one, settling a pillow by her head,
Should say: `That is not what I meant at all.
That is not it, at all.'

And would it have been worth it, after all,
Would it have been worth while,
After the sunsets and the dooryards and the sprinkled streets,
After the novels, after the teacups, after the skirts that
trail along the floor --
And this, and so much more? --
It is impossible to say just what I mean!
But as if a magic lantern threw the nerves in patterns
on a screen:
Would it have been worth while
If one, settling a pillow or throwing off a shawl,
And turning toward the window, should say:
`That is not it at all,
That is not what I meant, at all.'

STUNNING!
Kirsten Dunst in Miu Miu'a latest ad campaign for spring '08.
She looks quite the femme fatale - how absolutely gorgeous.

If I were to try to condense the entire spirit of human experience, I might suggest that the crowd in this video is basking in it. There is something so true and touching about this beautiful crowd in Sweden, my eyes misted over.

Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you’re free
Look into your heart and you’ll find love love love
Listen to the music of the moment maybe sing with me
A lá peaceful melody
It’s your God-forsaken right to be loved love loved love loved

I've been thinking about Plato's Hermaphrodite, where Man and Woman were once joined but then separated. And no one anticipated that they'd spend the rest of their lives trying to find each other.

Or you can just call me a hopeless romantic.

This very beautiful paper cut-out is the creation of talented artist, Robert Ryan. You can also check out his blog and his etsy shop.

The dappled sunshine fell gently on her face and he realized in that second, what it means to see the world in a grain of sand, and heaven in a wildflower. He knew, because he was holding on to his own private slice of heaven. Or more accurately, she was holding tight, tugging on the sides of his well-worn flannel shirt on the back of his rusty old bicycle.

The ribbons tying the espadrilles on her feet around her ankles had loosened. Two yellow grosgrain ribbons fluttered in the breeze, up and down and twirling. Like a flash of sunlight, he caught them in the corner of his eyes. For a moment, he thought they might get caught in the spokes of the wheels, it could be dangerous. But his legs kept on peddling. They were not weighed down by gravity right now, it can wait.

Army of Me - Amy Cutler

This new year,
I hope the army of me will band together and not speak so loudly, all at the same time.
I hope they will get their act together.
I hope they will go easier on each other, and themselves.
I hope they will open up their hearts and have a little more love to give to everyone.

quote

I lean my head slowly to the side, reflect on the camellia on the moss of the temple, reflect on a cup of tea, while outside the wind is rustling the foliage, the forward rush of life is crystallised in a brilliant jewel of a moment that knows neither plans nor future, human destiny is rescued from the pale succession of days, glows with light at last and, surpassing time, warms my tranquil heart.
