直到有一天 我徹底昏睡了 我太累了 我放開了

My friends and family will tell you that I'm an absolute nut about designing and decorating my room (this means moving cupboards twice my height single-handedly when no one is around to help, and pulling an all-nighter to tack up fabric to my wall).
Here is its latest reincarnation - let me bring you on a tour!

The crochet valance hanging across the recess wall is handmade by my aunt. My mum and her sisters knitted and crocheted so much in the past, and I happily reap the fruits of their labour - never need to buy a sweater in my life. But sadly, I don't seem to have inherited their dexterity, the scarf I've been working on since last year (!) is still half done.

The bird cards I framed came from an educational set scored on ebay. The curtains are from an old neighbour.

Here are some prized finds - the silk painting in a tapestry frame found in an antiques store in Bugis, and the British Museum of Natural History bird hook from another antiques store in Blue Mountains, Australia. The floral print on the wall is not wallpaper, but fabric I got from Spotlight.

The treasured tea set is from Royal Albert, I am still desperately hunting for the perfect teapot though!

Behind the door hangs an assortment of scarves, jackets, vests, totes, belts...and a feather duster.

Another beloved find from my last trip to Australia - a framed papercut in gorgeous autumnal colours.

The art wall - a mix of pictures (old and new), vintage finds, handmade crafts from family and friends, my own drawings, and etsy prints.

Books, magazines, bags and other random stuff get stashed here. Plus I'm trying to cultivate a garden on my window sill!

I hope you've enjoyed my room tour!

These gorgeous pictures make me really want to be outdoors (camping, picking apples, on a caravan heading nowhere...). For the past weeks, I've been holed up in my room, working on one essay after another (writing on I Heart Huckabees, eastern philosophy, Marvell, Donne, Mary Wollstonecraft into the depths of countless nights). There's actually a depression in my wrist from resting on the edge of the keyboard as I type. And next week are the exams. But now, I'm going to shut my eyes and imagine myself sprawled on a sea of green.

These are just a few of the photos Zee took at the second shoot. In an exploration of unusual materials (trash bags, bubble wrap, crepe paper, you name it), Zee made all the head pieces and dresses I'm wearing here! Brilliant, ain't she?

This is the first of the two shoots I helped Zee out with for her final fashion communications project. All the sunblock I slathered on did not prevent me from getting a tan, but frolicking in a pool on a hot Saturday afternoon was fun.

And with her magazine's theme being 'exploration', I think it does come across in how you actually see a landscape underwater - I can make out clouds and winding paths. It's almost like an alternate universe.

Today is gonna be the day
You hear some body say
We need you right away.

No time for tea or lemonade.
Some moments of the day
We're only half awake.

quote

I lean my head slowly to the side, reflect on the camellia on the moss of the temple, reflect on a cup of tea, while outside the wind is rustling the foliage, the forward rush of life is crystallised in a brilliant jewel of a moment that knows neither plans nor future, human destiny is rescued from the pale succession of days, glows with light at last and, surpassing time, warms my tranquil heart.
